I was just discussing the Steamdeck with a coworker. We now have a console, head gear and new controller to go with it. If priced right, it becomes major competition for consoles.

The mini-PC /console has :
16GB RAM that's still ''fine'' for now.
But 8GB VRAM ; demanding games today already exceed that amount of VRAM ( the excess has to be stored in slower RAM, lowering FPS, causing stutering or textures not loading fast enough, or game might not work at all ).
Don't expect miracles, but if optimized right and at low price with good build quality, it could be interesting.
And if you plan to use this as your PC replacement or have many games installed at once, ignore the 512GB version. 2TB option is fine.
They ( Valve/Steamdeck ) have a good track record for repairability, let's see in 2026 if you can do something like change the storage drive easily.
