111 Canada’s Remembrance Day postage stamp has a “Canadian” Sikh soldier on it. This is in very poor taste. 67,000 white men died in Canadian Armed Forces in World War 1, 600,000 white men served. 10 Sikhs served in the 4 year war, but they get the postage stamp. Disgraceful. 🧵 (twitter.com) posted 218 days ago by SophiesBoyfriend 218 days ago by SophiesBoyfriend +111 / -0 20 comments share 20 comments share save hide report block hide replies
''Their stories were largely overlooked until...''
They were largely irrelevant. They were not ''overlooked''.
They represented 0.001666% of soldiers.
That means that to fairly ''reprensent'' them, you'd have to feature the stories of 60 000 White men, before featuring a single Sikh.
