What makes you think they're removing woke stuff? It's far more likely that they'd use the time to double down and increase the wokeness in the game.
Personally, I think Rockstar, like the rest of the industry, is suffering a competence crisis while at the same time overexpanding its ambition. It wants GTA VI to be an even bigger event than V, but no longer has the staff with the skills needed to make it happen (or to even make another GTAV from scratch) and is bogged down with too much bureaucracy, leading to development slowing to a crawl. They're also most definitely getting all their ducks in a row to make sure the online component with all its sweet juicy monetization is up and ready to go at release or at least close to it. They know that's where the real money is at.
Nah, i think they're removing it too. They probably smelled blood in the water and are trying to clean up the game even more, make it as politically nimble as possible. They can always double down later, it's a live service game. I think their line of thinking is it's better to undercook than burn.
Yeah no sense in being so blatant with the messaging when they still got away with making a strong empowered Latina one of the main characters and fat black women everywhere (including twerking on moving cars)
That trailer was made 1 year ago, before the presidency results and the big cultural shift hit the shareholders. Don't forget, everyone banked on trump losing again. I doubt they'll remove the more sneaky elements but i think anything blatant is gonna get cut or moved away to dlcs and whatnot. Maybe like with microtransactions in live service games where they sell you the game and add the opium later on.
Don't underestimate woke arrogance. They see themselves as the right side of history, after all.
They're still beholden to shareholders.
And now I'm wondering, have shareholders ever successfully sued a woke corporation for failing to increase shareholder value?
