Some of my friends would buy the latest fad game on launch day, play it for two weeks, then trade it in for something they missed last month, then come back and trade that in for three older games.
Most places will pay 30-40% of resale value, GameStop is a lot more stingy than they used to be but you can still get 30% if you do store credit.
The joke of a few bucks vs solid store credit has been around since the early 2000s.
