Not surprising given how cucked F-Droid is just like most open source projects. They pledged to do the UN's bidding for Pete's sake.

Edit: It seems this may have been due to an Open Technology Fund "Sustainability grant" (mostly from US taxpayers) "to explore F-Droid policies" including around NSFW apps. https://gitlab.com/fdroid/admin/-/issues/252#note_2578531026
