Apparently a high profile streamer was recently sexually assaulted on camera at twitch con.

the streamer goes into detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLrxuSS33xg

The offender was escorted away by private security hired by the streamer herself, not twitch security. They have yet to find the perp, but twitch supposedly banned him (meaning twitch knows who he is and haven't notified police).
Twitch had dealt with stalkers before, and their response was to ban the private security guards who fought off the creeps. They put out messaging claiming their security is top notch, then blame the victims for not moderating their streams, as if that does anything to stop real creeps at real meetups.
The incompetence and deflection, combined with the business model of twitch streams, leads me to believe twitch knows who their primary audience is: stalkers and molesters willing to fork over 5$ to get the streamer to say their name.
And "cosplay streams" are not? I think that in itself is far more overtly lewd than drag queen story hours are, though less evil because one is specifically targeting children.
Said nothing of the sort. If they were actually fucking these dudes there might be a different story. What they are offering is sexuality. Their streams are offering either lewd content (titty streamers, cosplayers, work outs, etc) or Girlfriend Experience. Both of these things build up a parasocial bond in these guys heads, because they wouldn't give much money if they didn't, and one that is much more intense than male streamers because of that added sexuality.
The sex is implied, its why all those guys show up. And for every few thousand that don't do anything about it, there will be one who is completely wacko and goes too far. The same way that it happens with all "sex work" and has for all of history. This version just has extra layers of protection due to being digital most of the time to make it 1 out of 4000 instead of 1 in 10 like a regular whore.
And yes, strippers are the pre-internet version of this problem and all of us have probably known or heard about a guy literally destroying his life thinking one of them "loved" him, and similarly guys who did horrific shit because of said obsession. Heck it was so well understood they did a classic South Park episode mocking it.
Though considering you called strippers "dancers" I feel like you and I will never agree on this point, because that's laughable.
I think you're misunderstanding my arguments here. I never said titty streams weren't lewd in nature, I said the stream is the service that they provide, not sex. this was in response to the assertion that streamers do not offer a service, which is patently false as described in my first response.
which is the service being offered
once again demonstrating that you have been fooled by the whore
If you want to be pedantic and completely ignore everything else about the situation to be strict to definition. That was the point of bringing up drag queen story hour, because they are simply providing a volunteer service if you provide no further thought to it, however if you do you see the larger ploy at play. Ethots are whoring, without actually sleeping with you, and the stream is the cover for all the machinations at play to prey on pathetic, lonely men.
But sure, if you want to win the argument on this technicality without meaning you can have it. They provide a "service." The same way the guy scamming you is providing a service if he gives you a meaningless trinket along the way.
drag queen story hour is not comparable because it is a thinly veiled excuse to introduce sexuality to children, something entirely immoral and, to the letter of the law, thoroughly illegal.
streaming, be it softcore porn, companionship porn, friendship porn, or any other parasocial situation, is not nearly as a moral as pedophilia, and perfectly legal between consenting adults. people pay to be mentioned on streams, which means people are willing to pay for the service, ergo it is a service.
It is though, because of this part:
Its using one thing as a front for another more predatory goal. That's it, that's the entire purpose of the comparison and you clearly understood it and are arguing "no that's different" on points not being made so you can claim your W and feel correct.
Well I gave it to you, you got your technicality victory. You win the debate club, ignored the entirety of everything else to keep harping on a meaningless specificity and defended M'Lady's honor. You are the champion.
