I know it’s beating a dead horse but why are women never chastised for the 10/10 men with muscles that grace the cover of romance novels and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a male lead in a movie aimed at women who was ugly/overweight. I’ve heard men get attacked for not wanting to date a woman who was fat. Never seen it the other way around
The overriding strategy is to position female preferences as the new default while male preferences are demonized as aberrant and problematic. There’s no allowance for different tastes or markets.
