There is this idea that the most extreme people are converts, but that hasn’t been my experience with people at all. Most of the “red pilled” former lefties I’ve known were just waiting for some event to justify their instantaneous return to the leftist fold. It’s like they were forced by cognitive dissonance to temporarily adopt a more rational worldview, but that only lasted for a few years until the pain of cognitive dissonance wore off.
