Don't forget that some methods of calculating GDP include government spending.
Given that the clip is trying to shill them hard, the odds are high that if they didn't pull that 5% out their ass, they probably picked a method that includes the welfare they received and spent as part of their contribution to GDP.
If you used a method that didn’t include government spending, the black contribution to the economy would absolutely be negative.
