Will watch. I love Romero's work, but I'm glad it turned out this way. Kind of like the *ploitation movies, and Hammer films, the Resident Evil movies were aware of their faults, and worked them, right to the last one, with it's Overlord Goblin class CGI, and are fun movies to rewatch. Romero would have made a cerebral horror movie out of the first, surely, and we would get the craziness of the sequels.
I agree that the Resident Evil movies we have are a fun watch. Silent Hill movies going more horror aren't as rewatchable for me. I enjoyed it, but unless it Halloween, it's not the treat I'm looking for.
Considering how the remakes, and every other adaptation somehow, turned out, its just a cursed franchise outside of the fluke that allowed the original to happen.
Wow, I had no idea they (WETA) were involved in a live action Evangelion project, that’s crazy (and would probably make for an interesting documentary itself!) - NGE, Halo, I wonder what else they were workshopping that never got off the ground

Movies about unmade movies, huh?
I wonder if we'll ever get one made about that attempt to make a live-action Neon Genesis Evangelion in the early 2000s.
The mismanagement between WETA and ADV is a big reason ADV went under, to be later replaced by Sentai Filmworks.
Considering how live action anime adaptions usually turn out, it's probably a good thing that one fell through.

I absolutely agree.
Alita: Battle Angel being so good was lightning in a bottle. We're never getting that again.
If that Mobile Suit Gundam movie that's currently in production somehow ends up good, I will gladly eat my words.

Didn't they used to have a big black catalog of mail order VHS titles? Or was that something else?
ADV? Oh yes, they did.
John Ledford ran the company. He is a genuine anime fan.
He's still one of the top guys at Sentai, even after the sale to the AMC network (not the theater chain).
