Israel's policy has never been "Israel First" and has shown it's policy to be "Israel Exclusively to the Detriment of our Friends by Any Means Necessary", and is causing the greatest blowback it's had since it backed off relations with the Soviet Union.
As is usually the case, the greatest seed for antisemitism is the Jews/Israels seeming inability to understand optics or self control and then getting mad that you dared criticize them for it instead.

I was fucking shocked when I listened to a few English language Israeli documentaries going over October 7th, and the incredible amount of Israelis that lived withing 10 miles of Gaza and just assumed that they didn't need weapons and wouldn't be attacked. Like... how is a country this supposedly well prepared and already implemented mass conscription, completely ignorant of the level of violence they are actively facing from Hamas. It was fucking wild.

It all feeds back into that arrogance that not only leaves them defenseless to the idea of being actively retaliated against, but also everyone else not immediately rushing to see them as the victim when it happens.

I, honestly, would have expected them to be more like the Spartans: in Spartan mythology they (incorrectly) asserted that they weren't even from Greece, and that they were a foreign, invader race, that would inevitably die to a slave revolt. As such, they were always aggressive and paranoid. I know fire arm ownership isn't necessarily common in Israel, but I assumed that everyone near Gaza just had a gun in their house somewhere. It was crazy that they thought they were safe.
