I think the guys point is that Arab cuisine is not "fine" cuisine in the sense that French cuisine is. It's more like try ethnic cuisine and that's it.
Also it kind of all tastes the same? I like Arab food but they use the same spices for everything and it is the equivalent of junk food for me.

I have heard of fine Arab cuisine. Even been to an Arab buffet or two. It was exotic and weird. Not bad, just too alien tasting for me.

That sounds completely arbitrary. An Arab might say the opposite with arguably equal validity.
