Autists in the workplace wouldn't be a problem as long as you had understanding management that the obsessive nerdy white guy might be able to understand some technical details better than anybody else so you have to put up with his awkwardness. When you have HR crones who want to find any excuse to fire guys like that it can never work.
Easy fix for that is to purge HR. Hand payroll and benefits off to the accounting department and let individual managers do their own hiring and firing.
