Exactly, the local man only takes one drink after work and can totally quit anytime. Thereby all this hullabaloo about alcoholism is overblown and he just doesn't get it and you are in fact the problem for bringing it up.
Honestly, I hope its the SSRIs that make you this braindead retarded because if you are correct and they don't do much, then you have far worse problems in life.
...You realize that basically everyone is only taking the prescribed dosage which comes in a pretty reasonable range right? There's really no reason to even want more than that, they won't get you high and I've never even heard of someone seeking out SSRIs and I've heard of fucking prednisone seekers. I think you'd really struggle to find a drug that is less frequently abused than SSRIs in proportion to how common they are.
The point isn't abuse, its that you are completely lost in the trap of "well I'm fine so they must be fine period."
The abuse of them isn't in their overuse, its their overprescription and lifelong commitment, in which you can physically watch people slow down into a zombielike state with an empty stare that is common enough for people to note it. A problem so slow acting that people on it rarely notice it happening to themselves, but because people on them never really quit they lack the perspective to ever see it.
What you're describing is the intended effect, they work well enough to shut people up so we stop complaining about our problems and that's the whole reason I'm forced to take them, because my parents are my only real life social contact and they don't want to hear me complain.
No part of what you said is a positive thing, and you have my pity for it. And saying such, you now answered your original question about why people hate them.
