I literally got put on them because of an offhanded mention by my mother that I'm sad about not being able to get a girlfriend. You're putting way too much blame on the users, most of who never even had a choice and were drugged against our will.
SSRIs and other mental health drugs aren't meant to benefit the person taking them, they're meant for everyone else who that person interacts with so they don't have to hear our complaints or have us bring down the mood.
