I prefer to think that no father would do that without an exceptional reason.

I'd love to think that too, but we see the opposite too often.

The leftist victims of violent crime like ethnic food and immigrants more than their own daughters. The fathers of school shooters (when they're around) all happen to be FBI agents. (Exaggeration, obviously, but there's a very real trend.)
