I listened to a book recently that pointed out this dynamic. (Uncovered: How the Media Got Cozy with Power, Abandoned Its Principles, and Lost the People)
The author pointed out (loosely) that media people typically come from areas where they did not grow up in big cities and thus did not see what it was actually like growing up with inner city people or working class people.
Because of this these outsiders are egalitarian sympathizers who immediately end up with relatively posh jobs enjoying a good life but are completely disconnected from certain realities, IE they have no real life experience outside of their libertopia.
Well I did grow up in the inner city, that is one of the chief ways how I know these people are utterly clueless chumps for narratives that don't match reality.
