That's really never been true. This was another fuckup by the BSU who used Ed Kemper as their "inside guy" to built most of those profiles and he was very intelligent, as well as Bundy as the "default" they built everything off of.
Gary Ridgeway was the literal highest number of kills in America until like 2010 and he was borderline retarded (around 80 IQ), and other big guys like Henry Lucas and Pee Wee Gaskins were literal white trash imbeciles.
