That's why I wasn't going to shit on them for it. Its a reasonable act of self interest to let a man probably get killed in front of you because you might get hurt too.

However, that mindset is the exact reason why we left a high trust society. Because a high trust society is one where you jump in because its the right thing to do and you have trust that your fellow men will also jump in with you.

We can't go back to that without actually putting in the work to uphold it. And that includes absolutely foolish and reckless behavior that will often get you extremely hurt.
