HARD fucking doubt China pulled that off. I've seen the shit they fake. They fucking spray paint mountains to make them look more green and alive for fuck sake.
One of their "iconic waterfalls" beloved by Chinese tourists? It dries up every summer so they put a pipe in & pumped water to keep it going 🙁
Like you say, they'll fake anything.
