so far despite being a shady controlled opposition party, Sanseito is the only political party that opposes allowing seperate surnames.

Bread and circuses. That's how controlled opposition works. They "fight" their "opponents" over minutiae, while aligning on the primary goal of selling out the country. Until we call their bluff and stop falling for the false dichotomy, nothing is going to change.

Thankfully, it looks like demographics changes are going to force this to happen eventually. The only question is whether the commies or the nazis win.
