There is no shortage, twitter/pixiv manga are being posted by the hundreds right now looking to get tapped by a big publisher, and those are guys literally doing it for free/donations out of passion.
Hell, just look at Comiket, which is up to its 106th event. You can have professionally printed doujinshi with much higher quality than Western capeshit or even domestic commercial manga.
Shit some of my favorite comedy series of the last years (Pseudo Harem, Kuma to Usagi wa Tomodachi dewa Irarenai, Tonari no Seki no Yatsu ga Souiu Me de Mitekuru) all started as just little twitter projects. And the only difference between them and "professional works" was having a bit better art (likely from having an assistant to help) as well as coming out way faster.
