The company Jagex turned RS2 into RS3 and it became a MTX nightmare. They added a ton of cosmetics, and many of them were ultimately rainbow garbage. Wings, capes, magical light trails behind the character, etc.

This basically killed Runescape, and the Oldschool Runescape project began years afterward. OSRS dominated RS3 in popularity, but succumbed to subversion in the end, however minorly. Changes were made to OSRS through a poll system which required being a paid member instead of F2P, and polls passed if they were 75% in favor. Sometimes it was small things like changing icons, other times it was moving Agility shortcuts, or lowering quest requirements.

All the gay shit was never polled, it was simply added to the game. There is a gay pride flower circle outside of the major city with the game's auction house, there's a bunch of literal gay, trans, lesbian, etc flag shirts you can get from a vendor, rainbow scarf, rainbow shoes, and probably more added after I quit. They added pronoun selection to character creation, they changed a bunch of previously all-White male guards to be a mix of women and non-Whites, and had an actual Gay Pride Event coordinator position, which was recently mercifully axed.

No matter how obscure, no matter how small, the demons will infiltrate and infect. It's truly their raison d'être.
