I think it kinda depends on how much of a pet lover you are. All my little buddies have been cremated and I keep them on the mantle to be buried with me. Disposing of their bodies by feeding them to a predator would be a no go for me.
From a practical standpoint it makes sense and is a more natural way to dispose of sick or dead animals.
I can't imagine a pet lover participating to begin with.
Since its voluntary, its probably just for people who want to "do good" without feeling like an asshole dropping their pet off at the pound to be killed anyway. At least this way that unwanted guinea pig gets actually used, instead of thrown in the trash after being put down. It seems cruel in a lot of ways, but everyday pets are being discarded for worse reasons and will continue to be because humans are human.
Its like those baby drop off boxes. Horrific of an idea, but better than the likely alternative.
There is a lot of truth to that. And I can see the practically of it. And as a pet lover the title alone is so aggressive and offensive to me, so some of this is me tone policing.
Yup. I'm inheriting my childhood dog's ashes and he's going to eternity with me. Frankly pets are more deserving of dignified send offs than most "humans".
