Pity. I appreciate the comedic value in the whole of humanity ending to cover up sex crimes and/or crimes of our greatest ally
Unfortunately simpler answer is often the case and Trump has a history of showing off the bigger toys to make others both scared of retaliation and feel inferior.
That may work with newbie nuclear powers like Korea or Pakistan, but the Russians have ICBMs and ballistic missile subs, just like we do.
Russians are also men who treat power/strength as a priority. Flexing to them that you are a grown man back with your own strength is likely one of the few ways to garner and keep their respect. A respect necessary to negotiate in any real way.
You know, like all of real life worked before we let women vote and turned all politics into feminine nonsense.
