The truth has always been a burden. The more you know, the heavier the burden. "Ignorance is bliss" isn't just a meaningless phrase. There's actual validity to it, even though the ignorance will ruin the ignorant, they'll be happy right up until their ruination.

In a decaying corrupt society which has embraced all manner of lies, the truth is even more burdensome, as we're attacked by the ignorant and corrupt for believing, espousing, and abiding in truth, pushing the truthful people into the fringes, taking away the community we thought we had, making us feel alone, and feeling powerless in the face of the seemingly impossible task of remaking society and rooting out all of the falsehoods and lies. That is the black pill a lot of people fall into once realizing the truth. The white pill comes when you realize this process happens all the time to civilizations, and the corrective recourse which happens every time lies become dominant, and that we'll win.
