May I be the first to say: boo hoo? Can’t watch that gang bang without putting in your credit card details, uploading photo ID, supplying your bank account number, mobile phone operator, or using email-based age verification? Diddums.
So as usual posted by a retard that neither understands the scope of this act nor how the methods in place affect far more than just literal "gang bang" content.
Reddit, Discord, Bluesky, Telegram, 4chan, and more are all either taking steps that will require some form of ID verification or scan where someone will then try to guess if the applicant is over 18. In the case of 4chan they're just flat out geo-blocking the UK instead of setting up additional software requirements. Other sites have done the same rather than capitulate to what is basically a foreign government telling them how to operate.
And all of this is happening despite existing tools being in place for parents to control what their children can access. They just don't do it and instead let "daddy government" do it instead, willing and lazily handing over more personal freedoms because the parents simply can't be assed.
It was never about stopping porn, and this won't even do that. It's resulting in a massive control grab for multiple platforms with multiple purposes even when those accessing said platforms never go near the parts with porn on it.
But then it's the UK government, and Labour at that, so it's not a surprise they're being pants on head retarded yet again now they're in power once more. Not that the Tories did much better after a whole 14 years in control while still blaming everything on "the last Labour government" in addition to continually sliding around the political axes in order to try and keep as many voters on board rather than lose them to any other party.

This is a point I've often made. There's parental control software like Net Nanny that porn sites are more than willing to work with to keep kids away because it provides less ammo for shit like this. Does anyone seriously believe that the same people who want to molest and troon out kids really give a shit about keeping them away from porn?
I was staying at someone's house this week for week reasons and decided to check 4chan. Couldn't. Parental controls on their router/ISP. CBA asking as I was really just going to check random boards and maybe shitpost for a bit before sleep, but considering whose house it was there's a solid chance it was like that due to default factory settings. It's that easy to block access to certain sites, most parents just don't want to keep adding to the list of blocks. That's how lazy they end up being in this.
This is absolutely trivial to circumvent. Assuming you're not on a phone, install Firefox (or any Firefox-based browser like Librewolf, Zen, Floorp) and then in the settings you can enable DNS Over HTTPS and choose a different DNS provider. Done. Doesn't matter what blocker exists on the router. You could also flash a Linux ISO to a USB Drive and live boot into it and open a web browser and do the same.

They failed to do that, btw, repeatedly.

I was, and like I said I couldn't be assed asking about it. I was just looking to kill a few minutes after going to bed.
I'm older than that and if I shave I get carded for things. I don't trust their methods nor their security to give them personal info like that.
Also, lol, lmao, as the kids say.
