Here's the thing: there are tons of crazy things on the internet. You can find people making claims about damn near anything, and most of those things are completely ignored. Because they're crazy claims.
But for some reason, they come out and vociferously "debunk" some of these claims, when they could choose to ignore them exactly the same way they ignore all the others.
So I don't think it's entirely a Kafka trap. I'd just say that if anything actually gets acknowledged by the people in power, it raises the possibility that it's true substantially.
