though I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the East Jerusalem brouhaha.
That's not what hamas believed. There was a ceasefire in May 2021 that lasted until 2023. Once it was broken, hamas did what terrorists do.
Also, I found it interesting what the "music festival" that hamas targeted billed itself as:
The 2023 Nova Trance Festival, billed as an event celebrating "friends, love and infinite freedom," was associated with the Brazilian psytrance festival Universo Paralello and described as a "playground for adults" with tented stages and a chill-out area, and it was known for promoting values such as "free love and free spirit, preservation of the environment, appreciation of natural values".
Sounds kind of like a degenerate drug-fueled EDM festival to me.

But they broke it. And where did Hamas even claim that they attacked because of the East Jerusalem matters?

Maybe, music festivals generally are. But what's the point?
I'm always bemused at the outrage that "THEY KILLED YOUNG PEOPLE AT A MUSIC FESTIVAL"... as opposed to killing people in a kibbutz who spent their free time driving Gazans to hospitals in Israel so they could get better medical care.
