Is Israel only controlling their own borders? Is Israel only controlling their own airspace? No. Israel controls the airspace and territorial waters of Gaza. And they prevent Gaza from using them.

But yes if South Africa would impose a total blockade of Lesotho that would be an act of war. Not an occupation as Gaza is 365km² and Lesotho is slightly bigger at 30.355km². At that size you can't really exert total control by a blockade. Apples and oranges.

The argument is that Israel decides what and who gets in. Not Egypt.

Under a 2007 agreement between Egypt and Israel, Egypt controls the crossing but imports through the Rafah crossing require Israeli approval.
