I try to be forgiving. Boomers had the deck stacked against them in a lot of ways. But they make it so hard not to despise them.
They like to talk about bootstraps and tight belts, but they eat garbage because it's cheap, wear plastic bags because it's cheap, and will throw their nations in a chipper shredder because no one prepared for a demographic decline that everyone has known was coming for seventy-five years.
Boomers as a voting block are the only to go from liberal to conservative to liberal. They’re the biggest “me” generation in human history and did a ladder pull on every generation after them economically. It would maybe be slightly redeemable if they weren’t fighting tooth and nail for more debt they’ll never pay while trying to create a larger housing bubble than the early 2000s.
Agree on all counts. Where I have to be forgiving is that boomers were the first generation to be subjected to modern propaganda from the womb.
The solution is similar to the "conservative female influencer" paradox. The best thing a boomer can do at this point is shut the fuck up and ask the most racist man he can find to tell him who to vote for.
True, they were the tv and consumerism trial generation and they didn’t have the information access many of us were born into or had at a young age.
Having their parents integrate their schools at gunpoint was a death sentence. Even down to the second half of the 20C being unusually cool, making boomers susceptible to muh climate change, because, yeah, the weather has never done x, y, or z in their lifetime. Boomers are a perfect storm of brainwashing susceptibility.
