Squenix hasn't been able to follow a trend or market properly since around the PS2 era. Its why despite owning one of the biggest franchises in the world, they haven't released a single fucking hit in it since FFX (unless you count MMOs, which adds one more that had to be hard re-launched).
This absolutely tracks with how slow they always are, that they are still going ahead with it while everyone else moves on.
