Well, it was probably obvious that Israel was thinking about attacking.

"I'm not going to help you. But I'm not going to stop you either." and quite frankly I think that is probably the most productive way to handle the situation

That's literally the least Israel First position we've seen from an American President since... maybe, the invasion of Lebanon, or the Eisenhower admin.
