I recall some kpop girl group, can't remember their name, performing at Kouhaku Utagassen a few years back wearing skimpy revealing outfits while dancing, and it wasn't just me that noticed - it was controversial enough that some parents called NHK to complain about them being on TV in golden time. So that's still a thing people care about there.
