I think there's a certain level of fake to it. They both needed each other for a specific task, and now it's over. It's not supposed to be a perfect group that gets along, but people who happened to have a similar need for a specific thing.
Sort of like how Trump is dealing with the middle east. He doesn't agree with them, but wants to do business. Same with Musk, he did the research and presented it. What happens now is negotiation.
Musk has clients that don't like Trump, and vice versa. So, end the partnership when the project is done.

Hell, nobody claimed Trump would start stepping away from Israel and Netanyahu, but it became necessary and it won him friends in the Arab world.
