Why not? That's exactly what he did it with the Thailand diver and he won the defamation lawsuit because "oh my brother working as a P.I. told me that but it turned out he's a drunk and was wrong sorry." Elon literally lied to ruin a working man's reputation (you still find people saying "well he was probably a pedo") and got away with it.
