The anti-Left Nationalists really didn't go anywhere. Anti-Left Japanese Nationalism or otherwise Japanese Conservativism has been a very long and very effective political force in Japan for decades, more so than anywhere in Europe or the US. There was no "De-Nazification" program in Japan, and it's one of the primary reasons that Fabian Socialism has only been successful in Japan with the imposition of Keynesian economic policies only a few decades ago.
That's the real point here. Yes, the Militarists never actually got held to account, even when they conducted massacres, rapes, scientific experiments, and setting people on fire. That was done intentionally by the Americans so that there couldn't be any legitimate counter-claims. Unlike Germany, the US took a very light touch by comparison in holding the militarists accountable. There are Nazi Hunters who scavenged Argentina, but there are no "Militarist Hunters" looking in Indonesia, because the militarists just went home and no one went looking for them.
