That’s the point for the upper executives: Lower the cost for another company to buy, new company gives the executives bonuses and golden parachutes after being bought out, then the executives are pushed gently out with said parachutes.
The issue is the companies have become radioactive without some good will or good products. You can have all the IPs in the world but burning the bridges while it’s being sold just doesn’t work out.
I figured there had to be some kind of powerful upper level incentive for it to continue the way it has, but I never would have guessed it was an executive exit strategy.
It’s worst than that: It’s the only strategy to all of them. These executives will leave one company and leech to another one to rinse and repeat. This is why you either work small (or yourself) or have no respect to any big corpo. Use them because the higher ups are using it too.
Technically that makes them parasitoids which have the intent to kill the host. Most parasites don't want to do that depending on which host they are in since it also keeps them alive.
Plenty out there that swap between the roles until hitting the definite host, however.

They really are just parasites.
