I vaguely recall the story about some guy who was ready to end it all and decided he may as well go out with a bang. He crossed the border and went on a multi-day partying, drinking, drug and sex binge. After it was over, he had enjoyed himself so much that he changed his mind about suicide and wanted to keep living.
