'Will be'...? They already do this, see wayne o'rourke, maxie allen, rosalind levine, and probably thousands of others. I couldn't find the name of the ones who got a police visit for criticising someone in the Labour party, but that's probably the most egregious one. Even if this Ofcom thing never makes its way into law, the UK is already a country where government critics can be arrested for anything they say.

This is how they softroll tyranny: do something outrageous which can only be properly resisted via organised violence -> after or while this is happening, use the press to announce a still outrageous but slightly less outrageous, smaller thing. They figured out another way to boil the frog, by turning up the heat in bigger steps, then turning it down when the frog starts to shift, but never by as much as they turned it up. You're seeing it now with covid jabs in the US; wow they announced that they cause myocarditis! What a breakthrough, the pot is cooling! Meanwhile the frog is learning to forget the heat of his immune issues, turbocancers, neurological damage, vaxxed up frogspawn, loss of rights, etc...

In the UK it wouldn't surprise me if the fingerprints of Blair are on this. One of the biggest controversies where he lost ground in office over civil liberties issues was mandatory ID cards, which were roundly rejected. Now they'll be accepted de facto by normies as a means of internet verification, because of the ThinkOfTheChildren law or w/e it's called, and with hardly a scuffle in the lugenpresse.
