Hah, that was another thing that I saw a while back, I think it was even posted here as well. Some anal-ysts published a report that said "Yeah sure Musk and his homeboys cut 180 billion in spending, but it cost 150 billion to do that!"
Okay so, assuming that's true (doubtful) he still saved 30 billion. And the costs are a one-time thing while the savings are per year. Oh no, how terrible!
On the one hand I agree, and under different circumstances maybe Trump could have even said he didn't want to have that all for him, but that's the other point: it's not.
Much like cropped images removing context the MSM claiming this parade is just for Trump is extremely disingenuous and you could probably make an easy bet that were any other POTUS in charge, regardless of party, the same type of parade would still be going on since it's the 250th anniversary of the US army. But of course "Orange man bad" so got to show the good things in a bad light.
There's something else to remember. They're putting the costs of this in a bubble to make it look bad.
In reality: Those tanks and vehicles and planes get ran, trained on, and driven around regardless. Those soldiers get paid regardless. The material already exists regardless. Literally all Trump is doing is having them drive 20 miles or fly in from an airbase, which are routine things that happen every day. The same money would be spent regardless. Literally all he's doing is arranging the timetable so they all overlap in DC for an hour to do some maneuvers. The actual "cost" that sets this parade as anything different than already-paid-for operations probably amount to less than half a million bucks and is mostly fuel.
I'm no fan of wasteful spending, but they hated Elon going after billions, hoping to work up to trillions.
This is $45 million. It's retarded, but by government standards it's absolutely fucking nothing.
