I was never an archivist, but somewhere around ten years ago noticed things disappearing. Now I have plenty of things saved I couldn't find again without massive effort.

People don't understand how ephemeral the data is that cannot be profited from. For example, downloaded a bunch of great mixes from mixcloud a couple months ago, fast-forward a bit, whole channel gets wiped without notice.
