People much smarter than me (and I'm not exactly dumb, eh?) have said for decades that Ai is a joke. This recent "fad" is just a rehash of what proponents have been saying since the 90's: and it's always just "5 years away!" from amazing, spectacular, world-changing results!! 😺
I too think that Ai will never achieve actual "intelligence" which requires sentience and salience (among other things). Those are impossible for a machine. Oh they can copy it, mimic it, look like they have it. But it will never be real.
