Well its is a bit amusing. Check out the gen z evangelicals and realize that the the movers and shakers of the "Zionist" position are panicking. I grew up as an American Evangelical, and we were taught how important supporting Israel was. The basis was, of course, neocon politics and a fantastical Christian belief system that was unheard of prior to 1915. Seems that's falling apart. Good.
Dispensationalism was always fucking weird and unbiblical. I'd even say anti biblical.
I've known quite a few churchgoers, mostly fairly old ones, that even when challenged on all points, will admit them all, and still sink back to either "but just look at the world! And you can see something special about that part of the world and those people" or "gods favor doesn't go away that easily!" As if the entire new testament wasnt a parade of the Israelites being told they were about to reject God's son and would pay the price.
It's full on heresy. The Gospels in particular John are laden with verses about how the jews forsook the original Covenant by forsaking the Messiah (Christ) and now the Kingdom of God is for His followers alone.

Oh I'm well aware. The themes of the gospel aren't exactly subtle
