This dude's an absolute piece of shit who killed an innocent man, and deserves to rot.
That said, this was a pretty good performance...I don't get why they try to make shows of this, and give people the chance to put on a defiant act like that. Just keep it impersonal; don't bring out the whole force or whatever. Just a basic escort to get him to where he needs to go. Stop giving these monsters attention, stop giving them a stage to grandstand.
Also...it's stupid to look proud and defiant. Not sure this walk can be used in court, but it seems stupid to...I was going to say poison his own support...but his supporters are the only ones eating this up.
That's a sad state of affairs. Think about it, being completely unrepentant after his murder might be a good move to get off, as it endears him to the Black Community.
this was a pretty good performance [...] Not sure this walk can be used in court
Yea. And since it was recorded in court (public) it will absolutely be used against him. They'll use this, your phone calls, your letters, TV interviews, anything except your conversations with your lawyer.

Thankfully the "black community" doesn't show up for jury duty.

I’d say that part of the problem is that they do. There was at least one BLM activist on Chauvin’s jury, and if memory serves a couple black people from the OJ jury have explicitly said they voted innocent because of race.
The cops did it because they are furious about a reprisal killing, and they are exerting a bit of social and political pressure on the judge not to give him bail or let him off. They're basically letting the judge know that this guy is their #1 target.
Most judges pretend to be independent arbiters of the law, but as we can see, no such judges actually exist, so we (literally everyone, not just cops) are left with having to make political statements to the judges in order to demonstrate the amount of political stamina and capital we are prepared to use to secure convictions.
