The police shot Rodney Hinton Jr. Son in a an apparently justified shooting so he rammmed his car into the police officers cruiser and killed him. Black people on social media are now advocating for raising money for him.
The question is when does this stop
This story is confusing as fuck. So here, I think I cleared it up. The LA times is garbage.
Okay, cast of characters
The events in chronological order:

On this date, the initial Officer Involved Shooting took place. Here's the pertinent bodycam of the shooting of Ryan Hinton : https://www.youtube.com/live/3eJBQO-N-_I?si=JPPuFw0t31RkUxU9&t=527
It looks like the cops had "Jump Out Boys" which are basically higher tier police that aren't technically swat, but are explicitly meant for car theft, pursuits, and fugitive apprehension.
Basically, the block in and ambush a stolen car with 4 men jumping out of it and started running.
Ryan Hinton took off running while holding a Glock, tripped, the sound of the gun dropping was audible enough that it made several officers noticed it and called out that he had a gun. An officer ran ahead of Ryan Hinton chasing another suspect, behind him was two dumpsters, and behind that was Ryan Hinton. Officer One notices the gun, calls it out, and attempts to run ahead of Ryan Hinton. Ryan Hinton runs towards and past Officer One and towards the officer who was chasing another suspect. In an effort to protect the other officer, Officer One shoots Ryan Hinton killing him. Officer One claims Ryan Hinton raised the gun towards the officer who was chasing a different suspect.
These are typically justifiable shootings. Many times I have seen suspects attempting to ditch guns, then NOT ditching them by the time the police see them, which typically gets them shot. Whether they are 'raising' a gun or not is typically irrelevant, as it's still arguable that a man with a gun running towards you can still justify self-defense with lethal force.
This shooting hasn't been fully adjudicated yet, but it looks like it will be justified.

Larry Henderson was conducting traffic detail actions at the University of Cincinnati during graduation ceremony. Rodney Hinton Jr. drove into him and crashed into a tree, killing Larry Henderson.
I have seen no footage of this crash, nor bodycam of the response.

Rodney Henderson was given no bond, and is facing charges of Aggravated Murder for the killing of Larry Henderson. In a demonstration of solidarity, a large wall of police showed up to 'escort' Rodney Henderson Jr. Upon the denial of his bail, Rodney Henderson Jr. "mean mugged" the police on his way out. Video

Rodney Hinton Sr. Offered Condolences to the officer who was killed on 5/5. Also said he is praying for the officer that shot Ryan Hinton. He also said that he was not looking for revenge.

The National Police Association posted to Twitter that Rodney Henderson Jr.'s GoFundMe page is a violation of the company's policy.
As far as I can tell, these are the fundraisers. Please note I did not verify the authenticity of these fundraisers and their connections to any family or legal defense. It is entirely possible these are fraudulent.

Great organization. This shit was even more convoluted than I thought. At least Sr. has a soul.
It doesn't help that Jr is not the 18 year old that got shot, and all of this happened in 4 days.
Yeah I had to double take when I first read Jr. was the father today because yesterday I had assumed that was the son.
