The rise of autism numbers has been like the rise COVID in 2020, it has coincided with a cratering of numbers in a similar looking disease that got rolled into the classification. For COVID is was the flu, for autism it has been generalized literal retards.
Instead of autism being a specific proportional deficiency in social capabilities, now anyone who is so mentally defective that they fail basic social tests gets diagnosed with autism too. Regardless of how useless they also are at all the non social stuff too.
Autism diagnoses have been cross contaminated with a vast number of plain old retards, which require very different treatment and have very different value than good old autists.
