I attended college twice, first time in 1989-1990, and again 2016-2020. I graduated in 2020. I can personally testify that a degree in the humanities is not the testimonial to intelligence the professional class thinks it is. If it represents anything at all it represents steadfast effort to complete a defined standard over a reasonable length of time. No learning need occur.
I can also make a comment on the academic rigor difference between 1989 and 2016: It has declined tremendously, which, if you think about it, makes sense. Millions more people now go into college now than did in the late 1980s, and there is only one way for that to happen: lower academic standards. It used to be only those of above average intelligence got into college, now any idiot can get in and graduate. AOC is living proof of this.
