I don't know anything about the property, but it looks like a stock-standard western-made magical girl show.

"Nobody looks like that", yeah, isn't kinda that the point? The flashy costumes are what set the main characters apart from the normies and serve as a visual show of their otherworldly and magical nature.

Hell, I'd bet good money they magically transform into the colourful forms in that first image in the source material.
