These people never actually retire. They just stop being actively involved.
Every decision will be balanced around his approval or lack of, people will run to him to settle debates, and if things go sideways he will walk in and slam his dick on the table.
Even when he dies, it'll still be his "inheritors" in that position.
thats not even true. They stop being in the spotlight. They are very actively involved.
That's what I was getting at. They become out of the main focus instead of directly the face of all things. Less of the initiator and more of the "we can't act until he agrees" figure.
